 Special Tuition Discounts

Students meeting the below eligibility guidelines may qualify for a 50% tuition discount.  Students qualifying for these discounts will receive a rate equivalent to 50% of the fall rate for their program, regardless of the term in which the student is enrolled.  (The summer rate will be 50% of the tuition rate for the upcoming fall semester.) 

Students in programs offering the Professional and Off-Campus Programs rate are not eligible for an additional 50% tuition discount, as the rate for their program is already discounted.       

Catholic School Teachers

This discount is offered to full-time administrators, teachers, guidance counselors, special educators, and librarians who are currently employed in a Catholic preschool, elementary, or secondary school and are enrolled in a degree-seeking program.

To receive the discount, students must submit confirmation of their employment at the start of each semester.  Confirmation letters must:

  • be dated (date should be no earlier than one month prior to the start of hte semester in which the discount is desired)
  • be on school or district letterhead
  • state the position title
  • verify that the student is employed full-time
  • be signed by either the school principal, superintendent, or the human resources department (if the student is the principal or superintendent they may not be the signatory on the letter)

Letters should be submitted to the Office of Graduate Studies (cua-graduatestudies@cua.edu) no later than later than the add/drop deadline for the semester in which the discount is desired.  

Military Musicians

This discount is offered to active duty military musicians who are enrolled as part-time students in the Master of Music, Master of Arts, Doctor of Musical Arts, or Doctor of Philosophy programs in the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music and who agree to participate in the school’s orchestra and/or wind ensemble for the semester in which they receive the discount.  Students receiving this discount may not receive any other CUA scholarship or discount. 

To receive the discount, students must submit the folowing items to the Office of Graduate Studies (cua-graduatestudies@cua.edu) no later than later than the add/drop deadline for the semester in which the discount is desired:

  • a completed tuition discount request form with the required approval from the School of Music
  • a dated letter from their band conductor or commanding officer verifying that the student is on active duty and is an active member of the band/orchestra of his or her branch of the military (date should be no earlier than one month prior to the start of hte semester in which the discount is desired)

Librarians and Library Employees

This discount is offered to employees of the institutions listed below who are enrolled in programs offered through the Department of Library and Information Science.  Eligibility for the discount is limited to students who received the discount prior to the Fall 2015 semester and who have maintained continuous enrollment in the program.  Students who begin or resume programs in the Fall 2015 or subsequent semesters are not eligible for the discount.

Students who qualify for this discount will be charged a rate equivalent to 50% of the regular, on-campus, Fall semester tuition rate for Arts & Sciences.  They will not receive a discount off of the already-discounted Professional and Off-Campus Programs Rate.    

To receive the discount, students must submit confirmation of their employment at the start of each semester.  Confirmation letters must:

  • be dated (date should be no earlier than one month prior to the start of hte semester in which the discount is desired)
  • be on the employer’s letterhead
  • state their employment status (full or part time)
  • be signed by either the supervisor or human resources department 

Letters should be submitted to the Office of Enrollment Services (cua-enrollmentservices@cua.edu) no ater than later than the add/drop deadline for the semester in which the discount is desired.
